Agung Rai (Ni Gusti Made Rai Sumadi)

Born in Legian-Kuta, Bali on August 12, 1964, Agung Rai is the daughter of I Gusti Kompyang Oka and Jero Padma. She is married to Agung Alit. At age 8, she embarked upon her career as a Balinese traditional dancer. She is now internationally renowned as a teacher of Balinese dance and has many students from a diverse range of countries.

Growing up in Legian and Kuta, Agung Rai performed at various international hotels as well as traditional Balinese ceremonies and performances. At the same time, she developed her own art workshop at her family home in Legian. She continued until her marriage to Agung Alit (I Gusti Ngurah Adi Putra) after which she moved to Alit's home in Bona Village in Gianyar Regency.

In addition to her profession as a dance performer and teacher, Agung Rai is also a very talented singer. Additionally she speaks at various special events such as opening ceremonies associated with her local and wider Balinese community.

Agung Rai is an integral member of Sanggar Bona Alit where she works with Agung Alit, co-managing the art community as well contributing to the many forms of art produced there. Her voice is featured on all three Kishi Kishi Albums.
